Hunter Extreme bitch blanket

HUNTER EXTREME FEMALE is a protective hunting coat for female dogs, developed in collaboration with Wanja Andersen (Mosjøen). The coat is made of softshell, with a Velcro closure along the entire back to ensure a good fit. Cuffs around the leg openings. The coat provides good mobility, is comfortable to wear, and fits perfectly with the opening for female dogs at the back.

Currently produced in size M, which fits a medium-sized English Setter female. The model in the pictures (Lizz) weighs 17-18 kg.

Conclusion

On the English Setter, it works great in all conditions. This is intended to be a coat that keeps them warm and free from frostbite in the cold, and especially in deep snow conditions with lots of loose snow. That is where the problem usually lies, especially on short-haired dogs like the Pointer. Snow quickly sneaks in there because there is no fur to help stop it. Here, the correct size and those snow cuffs are important. But with a good fit over the hind and front thighs, like this one for Lizz (medium English Setter female, 17-18 kg), medium was the perfect size.

This coat is not meant to be used in freezing point conditions, as it will become too warm for the dog to work in, and snow will stick to it.

Day 1.

Minus 20 degrees, some loose snow and somewhat hard ground. Works great; I see no indication that she is cold, nor that snow is sticking anywhere, or that it is getting inside the suit anywhere.

Day 2.

Minus 13 degrees, a lot of wind, blowing snow and blizzard conditions. Out for 3 hours in occasionally deep snow. Even here, she does not seem affected by the cold when she is out searching (many effective degrees of cold this day). Snow does not get in anywhere, and the snow does not stick, even with lots of loose snow. Perfect.

Day 3.

Minus 9 degrees, some wind and lots of loose snow, and deep snow throughout the session. Out for 2.5 hours. Even here, no snow sticks to it, or gets inside the coat anywhere. Great.
