About Canelana
What is Canelana?
Canelana is a Norwegian specialty store offering wool products and equipment for life and training with dogs. The range
includes wool blankets, beds and mattresses, clothing for people, horse blankets, as well as training and everyday products
in other materials – such as vests, softshell jackets, gaiters, trousers and hats.
Do you have a physical store?
We do not have a retail store, but our warehouse at Bryggevegen 23, 3683 Notodden functions as a point of sale
by appointment. Please contact Une Alice Olsen to schedule a time to view, try on, and purchase products.
Where are the goods produced?
Our products are developed in Norway and manufactured in Poland in compliance with EU regulations – including the REACH regulation for chemical safety, the textile labeling regulation, and requirements for work environment and product safety. We work with selected manufacturers that deliver high quality in materials and stitching.

Ordering and pricing
Why does it say, for example, "+44" on some sizes?
We show the lowest price first, and add the surcharge for larger sizes after the price, for example +44. It is
the same product and the same fit – larger sizes require more material and sewing.
Can I order multiple sizes to try on?
Yes. You can order multiple sizes or colors and return what doesn't fit. You pay the return postage yourself.
With a Klarna invoice, you can choose 30-day payment and avoid paying upfront for the items you return.
Shipping and delivery
Where do you ship to?
We ship within Norway and abroad. We ship with Posten.
What is the expected delivery time?
Orders are packed and shipped continuously from Notodden. Orders are usually shipped on the same day or the day after they are received. We ship via Posten.
Returns and exchanges
How long is my right of withdrawal?
You have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the time you receive the item.
What are the requirements for the return?
The item must be new, unused, with tags attached, and free from dog hair, odors, and dirt.
Who pays for the return?
You pay for return postage in the event of a cancellation or exchange of size. For exchanges, Canelana covers the shipping of the new item to you.
How do I send the return?
Send the return via Posten – not PostNord, as we do not have a PostNord collection point near the warehouse.
What is refunded upon full right of withdrawal?
The purchase price and the original standard delivery cost will be refunded to the same payment method you used. Your cost for returning the item is not covered.
What if the product has a defect or deficiency (complaint)?
Contact us first – then we will handle it as a complaint and cover the return shipping. Do not send the item in before we have been in dialogue, so that we can agree on how the error is best documented.
You have sent the wrong item – what do I do?
We will sort this out quickly. We will send the correct item with a pre-paid return bag in the same shipment. You can open the package when you pick it up, place the incorrectly sent product directly into the bag at the pickup location, and avoid having to make an extra trip.
Can I get parts for the dog bed, not a new bed?
We can supply foam mattresses for Bailey, Terra, and Vialana. We can supply foam bolsters for the edges of Bailey and Vialana. We can also supply interior sleeping cushions for Gyra. We order these from the manufacturer, so you should expect a few weeks' delivery time. Get in touch and we will find a solution.
Dog coats – selection and model differences
Which rug is suitable for my dog?
Think of the wool coat as a layered system adapted to weather and activity: pure wool against the body for dry, cold conditions; softshell over wool when it is wet or windy; and a thinner coat when the dog is active and needs to maintain a steady temperature without overheating. Breed, coat type, coat condition, and age all play a part – puppies, senior dogs, small dogs, and short-haired dogs generally need more warmth than a sturdy, healthy adult dog that is active.
If you are in doubt, contact us with the breed, back length, and what you will be using the coat for (hiking, hunting, resting in a car crate, recovery after activity). We are happy to help you choose the model and size.
What is the difference between Ambassadør, Selva, Lana, and Delta?
All four are made of 100% merino wool with the same smart fit (ribbed front, adjustable belly strap,
tightening at the neck and rear) and are priced the same. The difference lies in color and thickness:
• Ambassador – our classic, warm wool coat. Suitable for a wide range of everyday use, walks, in the car, and after activity.
• Selva – the same model as Ambassador, but in green.
• Lana – the same model as Ambassador and Selva, but with shorter-cut wool, making it slightly thinner.
• Delta – a thin, compact wool coat in 100% merino wool. Good as an all-year garment for active dogs and mild conditions, or as a layer under a wind/rain coat. Provides good wind protection.
Tip: Ambassador, Selva, Lana, and Delta also work well as drying coats after activity, bathing, or rain – the wool wicks moisture away from the fur while the dog rests.
What is the difference between Ambassador and Sidney?
Ambassadør is the wool coat with the classic ribbed front and adjustable neck and rear. Sidney is a "sweater" and has a tighter fit. Use the size guide on each product page – Sidney also provides neck and chest measurements in addition to back length.
When should I choose Thermo?
Thermo is our warmest blanket. Thick wool on the inside, softshell on the outside. Thermo is adapted for cold winter days and wet conditions. The softshell outer fabric provides wind and water-repellent protection, while the wool lining keeps the dog warm. Use Thermo when it is cold and wet. Thermo is no longer produced in sizes under XS 31 cm, over XL 69 cm, and sizes for dachshunds – for those who cannot find a suitable size in Thermo, we recommend
Ambassadør, Selva or Delta.
Cover and Thermo – what is the difference?
• Cover – wind and rain rug without lining, for use on its own in mild weather or as an outer layer over a
wool rug when it is cold, rainy or windy.
Tip: Cover can be used as a raincoat over a wool rug – the combination provides warmth from the wool and wind/rain protection from the Cover.
• Thermo – softshell rug with 100% thick wool lining, for cold and wet conditions.
Cover is like a shell jacket. Thermo is like a shell jacket with a thick wool lining and a complete solution for cold and wet weather.
What are Active and Sporting?
• Active – an activity rug with a high neck and 100% wool lining, for hiking and activity in chilly conditions. Because the Active has a closed high neck, it is less suitable for breeds with short snouts and broad necks (such as pugs).
Sporting – an activity rug with 100% wool lining, made for hunting, training, and working dogs that move a lot. Sporting = Racing without the special details for long-distance sled dogs (protective flap to prevent frostbite on genitals and pockets for heat packs over the shoulders and hips). Sporting comes in ocher yellow and red. Sporting is well-suited for bird dogs and other active working dogs. The rug is windproof and water-repellent, but not waterproof – it will get wet in the rain.
What is Canelana Racing?
Racing is the thermal coat we have developed together with experienced mushers for long-distance sled dogs. Sandwich construction with a light, wind- and water-repellent ripstop outer layer, a thin 100% merino wool felt middle layer, and a perforated lining against the dog. Reflective strips and color-coded sizes (navy blue = XS, yellow = S, orange = M, black = L) make it easy to distinguish between sizes for an entire team. Although Racing was developed for sled dogs, it is also well-suited for bird dogs and other working dogs in activity. The coat is windproof and water-repellent, but not waterproof – it will get wet in the rain.
What is a terrier model, and when does my dog need it?
The terrier model has a rounded opening at the back for tails that stand straight up, and does not have a drawstring or adjustment at the back. Choose terrier when the dog carries its tail upwards – for example, the Danish-Swedish Farmdog and many terrier breeds. The terrier model is available in Ambassadør, Selva, Delta, Lana, and Thermo.
Do you have coats designed for dachshunds and short-legged breeds?
Yes. Ambassadør, Selva, and Delta are available in a specific dachshund model in six back lengths: 30, 33, 36, 40, 45, and 50 cm.
Thermo and Lana are no longer produced in the dachshund model.
How do I measure the length of my dog's back?
Measure the back length from the center between the shoulder blades to the base of the tail, lifting it slightly.
The size measurement on our coats is the distance between the collar adjustment and the center of the rear hem (or to the tail cutout on the terrier model). Use the size guide on the product page and compare it with your dog's back length.
Does the rug have a hole for a harness?
No - our wool blankets do not have specific holes for a harness, but the harness can be worn over the blanket.
Dog beds – selection and model differences
What is the difference between the models?
• Vialana – wool mattress designed for sturdy dog crates. Thick merino wool on top, non-slip underside, removable 2 cm foam core, and removable foam bolster around the entire edge. Both foam parts must be removed before washing. Seven sizes adapted for standard crates (MIM Variocage, 4pets ProLine, Schmidt, Thule Allax, Artfex, TransK9).
• Bailey – wool bed with a raised edge and a sleeping surface featuring a 2 cm foam mattress, for home use. Wool on both sides. The edge gives the dog something to rest its head against.
• Terra – flat wool mattress with a waterproof underside. Terra is suitable for both indoors and outdoors; for breaks during walks or training, on the patio, in the yard, or in a dog crate – easy to carry, and the foam insert can be removed to reduce packing volume in a backpack.
• Gyra – round bed with a high, sturdy edge and a sleeping surface with a 4 cm foam mattress.
• Teddy – cover for dog beds, not a complete bed. Use Teddy when you want to make a faux leather bed more comfortable and inviting for your dog.
• Vela – pure wool rug (sleeping mat) cut to desired size. A flat solution without edges or foam. Used on floors, in crates, in the car, or as an extra layer in another bed.
Can I wash the bed?
Yes. The foam mattress and bolsters are removed via a zipper before washing, so that the wool can be washed separately. Follow the washing instructions on the label for each model.
Which Vialana fits my car crate?
Vialana is available in seven sizes stated as length × width: 67/42, 73/55, 83/55, 83/68, 93/68, 107/70 and 83/97. Measure the inside bottom of the crate and choose the size that best fills the bottom. Example: Variocage Single L has an inside bottom of 76 × 55 cm and fits Vialana 83/55. If you are in doubt, contact us with the crate model and inside bottom measurements, and we will find the correct size.
I only need a new part – is that possible?
Yes. We can supply foam mattresses for Bailey, Terra, and Vialana, foam bolsters for the edges of Bailey and Vialana, and internal cushions for Gyra. The parts are ordered from the manufacturer, so please expect a few weeks' delivery time. Get in touch and we will find a solution.
For retailers
I want to become a retailer – what are the requirements?
We partner with physical pet stores with regular opening hours and space to carry a reasonable selection of coats and/or dog beds. We verify the organization number before proceeding with terms and conditions.
